We learned in April that another light novel series has gotten the nod for an anime adaptation with the announcement of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. With a July 2021 debut ahead of it, a bit more casting news has surfaced as it’s been revealed that Ikumi Hasegawa will play Aisha Udgard, a dark elf who provides support for Kazuya with her martial arts prowess.
Takashi Watanabe is directing it with the scripts coming from Hiroshi Ohnogi and Go Zappa. Mai Otsuka is adapting the character designs with JC Staff handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Yūsuke Kobayashi as Kazuya Souma
- Inori Minase as Liscia Elfrieden
- Reina Ueda as Juna Doma
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Aisha Udgard
The book series comes from writer Dojyomaru with illustrations by Fuyuyuki which began in 2016 and has thirteen volumes out. It was licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for English release with J-Novel club back in 2017. A manga adaptation also kicked off in 2017 from Satoshi Ueda which has produced five volumes so far which J-Novel Club is releasing digitally. They’ve done eight of the novels while Seven Seas has done six volumes of them in print.
Plot Concept: “O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world and his adventure–did not begin. After he presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself saddled with ruling the nation! What’s more, he’s betrothed to the king’s daughter now…?! In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. Five people gather before the newly crowned Souma. Just what are the many talents and abilities they possess…?! What path will his outlook as a realist take Souma and the people of his country down? A revolutionary transferred-to-another-world administrative fantasy series starts here!
