Funimation Kicks Off The ‘Adachi to Shimamura’ Anime Dub With Cast & Production Reveal

The fall 2020 anime adaptation of the Adachi to Shimamura light novel series from Hitoma Iruma is moving onto its next stage of distribution. Funimation is debuting the English language dub adaptation today which has Marissa Lenti as the ADR director working with David Wald as the assistant ADR director and with Katelyn Barr on the scripts. The English dub cast includes:

  • Megan Shipman as Adachi
  • Amanda Lee as Shimamura
  • Sarah Williams as Hino
  • Monica Rial as Nagafuji
  • Sarah Wiedenheft as Yashiro

Satoshi Kuwabara is directing it based on the scripts from Keiichiro Ochi. Shizue Kaneko is on board for character designs with Tezuka Productions handling the animation production.

Akari Kito will play Adachi while Miku Ito will play Shimamura. The newly added cast includes Manami Numakura as Hino, Reina Ueda as Nagafuji, and Iori Saeki as Yashiro Chikama.

The novels began in 2013 with Non handling the illustrations and eight volumes are out as of the announcement; Seven Seas Entertainment has picked up the novels for release beginning summer 2020. A manga ran from 2016 to 2017 with Mani illustrating it.

The opening theme song “Kimi ni Aeta Hi” is performed by Akari Kitō and Miku Itō while the ending theme song “Kimi no Tonari de” is performed by Kitō.

Plot Concept: Adachi and Shimamura, two young women who attend the same high school, are inseparable friends. Whether playing table tennis, chatting about favorite TV shows, or just relaxing together, they’re happy to share their days. When Adachi’s friendship turns into romantic attraction, the relationship begins to change, one day at a time.
