“Dante VS The Captain of the Black Bulls”
What They Say:
In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!

At the end of the last episode, Asta managed to land a hit on Dante. He didn’t take too kindly to that. Thus, he proceeds to punch the crap out of Asta. Well, that was a short-lived comeback. Elsewhere, Grey is very upset about what happened to Gauche. I know they’re both members of the Black Bulls but I never knew she cared so much about him. Why is that? Luckily for us, we’re going to get an answer to that question via a perfectly timed flashback! Who’s ready for some Grey backstory? Apparently, Grey used to live with her stepmother and two stepsisters when she was younger. They treated her terribly. Heck, they even called her ugly! That’s just rude. Also, this story seems awfully familiar. I can’t quite put my finger on it…
Even though her stepmother and stepsisters were terrible people, Grey still wanted them to accept her. For years, she worked hard on her magic. One day, she showed her stepsisters her magic by transforming into one of them. They were not happy about that all. How dare she!? No, how dare THEY! Grey is better off leaving this place behind which she does. However, she’s immediately surrounded by some shady guys. Oh no! If only a knight in shining armor would come and save her! And that’s when she’s saved by none other than…Gauche!? Yup, Grey was saved by Gauche. I did not see that one coming. By the way, Gauche hasn’t changed at all. He’s a siscon now and he was a siscon back then. Some things never change. It’d be nice if they did though. Anyway, he tells Grey that she needs to have the resolve to take what she wants if she plans on surviving in this world. Those words changed Grey’s life forever. He gave her the courage she needed to do her best and survive. Eventually, they reunited in the Black Bulls. She always wanted to thank him but could never find the opportunity. He can’t die on her now! Back in the present, Grey starts HEALING Gauche!? What the heck!? I thought she could only use transformation magic! What sorcery is this!? This catches the attention of Dante who remarks that he’s surprised that there’s another arcane stage mage here. Grey is an arcane stage mage!?!? Dante has also decided to make Grey his woman. This guy! And in case you’re wondering, he kicked Asta’s butt and he’s currently unconscious.
Out of nowhere, Yami shows up and tells Dante to keep his hands off his squad. Yeah, you tell him! I’m so ready for this Yami and Dante showdown. Dante is visibly excited. After all, Yami is the one he’s been waiting for. Yami wonders why he knows so much about him. Is he a stalker!? Dante admits that he is, haha. At least he’s honest. He also admits that this is the first time he’s ever felt jealous of a human. Yami has so many people around him with unique abilities. He plans on taking them all for himself. Is that so? Yami won’t allow a creep like him have any of them. He takes Dante down in the blink of an eye with his Dark Cloaked Iai Slash. Did…did Yami just defeat Dante!?
In the Heart Kingdom, Luck finds himself squaring off against one of Vanica’s Dark Disciples, Svenkin. He has already defeated one of the Spirit Guardians. He’s no joke! Luck does have the speed advantage though. But speed doesn’t mean a dang thing if his attacks aren’t able to hit! Svenkin’s body hardens or softens depending on his opponent’s magic. Basically, he’s got an auto shield on at all times. That’s unfortunate. Luck gets beaten down. Will he give up? Of course not! Why would he give up when he’s having so much fun! Luck starts going even faster. In fact, he’s going so fast that Svenkin’s auto shield is barely able to stop his attacks. He decides to manually harden his body. Now it doesn’t matter how fast Luck is. His attacks won’t pierce his rock hard body. Is that right? Luck shows off his ultimate move that he’s been working on this whole time. He turns himself into a spear of actual lightning and pierces through Svenkin’s chest! Danggggg.
A few things happened in this episode that I wasn’t expecting! Grey’s backstory certainly caught me by surprise. It was basically Cinderella but without the Prince Charming. Although, I guess you could consider Gauche her Prince Charming? Nah, he’s too big of a siscon. Learning a little bit about Grey’s past was nice and all, but it also felt like the wrong time for it. Maybe it’s just me though. However, learning that she’s at the arcane stage and seeing her heal Gauche definitely piqued my interest. The title of this episode led me to believe that we’d be getting a lot of Yami and Dante action, but we only ended up getting like a minute of it! Darn misleading titles. Speaking of that fight, Yami was destroying Dante! I was also not expecting that. Granted, I’m sure Dante is fine and that the fight will continue. Still, it’s always nice to see Yami kicking butt. As for Luck, he’s one fast boy alright. I’d say that his training has been paying off.
