The Star Wars universe is expanding, as we knew from the Disney Investor event recently and there are a lot of good shows coming down the road for the property. One person that won’t be involved in them, however, appears to be Gina Carano as Lucasfilm has now confirmed that she’s not currently employed by them when asked after some social media posts of hers this week went viral before she deleted them.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
While it likely won’t get any kind of confirmation for years, supposedly the New Republic spinoff was going to be focused around her but was changed to something more generic in its title prior to the investor day and it was being retooled. We’re personally hoping for it to be focused on Shara Bey and Kes Dameron since that would give us a young Poe character as well.
Regardless, Carano has had months of social media posts that have been controversial and it reached a tipping point for Lucasfilm.
Plot Concept: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
