The winter 2020 anime adaptation of the manga series Oshi ga Budōkan Ittekuretara Shinu from Auri Hirao was localized as If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die when it came out. With the North American release set, Australian distributor Madman Entertainment has now set a May 5th, 2021 release for their edition of it which will be a Blu-ray-only release. The set will be bilingual in nature and spread across two discs, largely mirroring the US release with the extras as well with the clean opening and closing sequences.
The project has Yusuke Yamamoto directing the project with the series composition handled by Deko Akao. Tomoyuki Shitaya and Masaru Yonezawa are handling the character designs while the animation is being produced at 8-Bit.
The Japanese cast includes Fairouz as Eripiyo, Tomoaki Maeno as Kumasa, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Motoi, Kana Ichinose as Reina, and Hina Tachibana as Maina Ichii.
The English dub was directed by Donald Shults based n the scripts by Emily Neves. The English cast includes Bryn Apprill as Maina Ichii, Megan Shipman as Eripiyo, Apphia Yu as Rena, Dani Chambers as Aya Yokota, Dawn M. Bennett as Reo Igarashi, Giovannie Cruz as Maki Hakata, Jim Foronda as Kumasa, Lindsay Seidel as Yuka Teramoto, Morgan Berry as Sorane Matsuyama, Natalie Hoover as Yumeri Mizumori, and Stephen Fu as Motoi.
The series kicked off in 2015 and has seven volumes out as of the end of 2020 in Japan.
The series features the opening sequence with the song “Clover wish” by ChamJam and the ending theme song sequence “Momoiro Kataomoi (♡桃色片想い♡)” by Eripiyo (CV: Ai Fairouz)
