Team science has a new ally on the inside! Step one closer to conquering the neighbors is complete.

However, Crome and Magma are still fleeing for their lives from a sniper. They can’t hold out much longer against the precision shots Tsukasa’s sniper is aiming at them.

We are properly introduced to Ukiyo in this episode. I find him already fascinating as a character. Not because he’s a really good archer, but because in his former life he was a sonar operator on a submarine. That would make him older than he looks, but it also means he was military. Chrome deduces that he isn’t attempting to kill either Magma or himself and to make sure his meat-head companion escapes, surrenders to Ukiyo.

Did Chrome actually have a plan? Nah. Well, he makes a heroic attempt to convince Tsukasa that the Kingdom of Science was awesome! Because they have colored flames and it’s cool… and they threaten to throw Chrome off a cliff. Good job Chrome, you are now a hostage.

With Chrome forcing the science guys into a situation where they have to act, Senku and the others decide now is the time to act.

This is the first time I’ve noticed that the new stone age denizens don’t have any form of domesticated animals. I didn’t exactly expect them to have horses or cattle but… no dogs? No cats? Dogs would have been an easy get after the survivors reached the mainland, and cats basically domesticated themselves. I’m still not sure what the status of birds overall is in their new world since some absolutely were turned to stone.

I bring this up because it becomes a problem that the group has no pack animals that they can load with supplies to take the fight to Tsukasa. Senku’s solution for this transportation problem? A car.

Okay, so he might be able to manufacture the parts for a steam engine by using a lost-wax casting process. He can create a sort of wobble-engine to keep his steam engine small and drive a simple axel. Great! Great Senku….. how the hell are you gonna drive a noisy ass steam engine car through a goddamn forest with no roads?

In Summary:
Senku once again throws common sense out the winder in pursuit of progress. An unfortunate move by a corned Chrome forces the Kingdom of Science into a confrontation earlier than they were perhaps ready for. Yet a keen set of ears on the other side might be their best hope at another shot at dismantling the Kingdom of Might. Now, can someone please explain to Senku that you can’t drive a steam engine through the woods.
