“Caribou-kun and Lake Yamanaka”

What They Say:
Nadeshiko, a high school student who had moved from Shizuoka to Yamanashi, decides to see the famous, 1000 yen-bill-featured Mount Fuji. Even though she manages to bike all the way to Motosu, she’s forced to turn back because of worsening weather. Unable to set her eyes on her goal, she faints partway to her destination. When she wakes up, it’s night, in a place she’s never been before, with no way of knowing how to get home. Nadeshiko is saved when she encounters Rin, a girl who is out camping by herself. This outdoorsy girls story begins with this first encounter between Nadeshiko and Rin.

Chiaki, Aoi, and Ena want to do something on their next break. Can anyone guess what it could be? Camping, of course! What else would they do in a show about camping!? Anyway, the girls are off to Lake Yamanaka! On the way to the bus stop, Chiaki trips on some snow but Aoi catches her in the knick of time! Ena doesn’t help them at all. She simply takes a picture of the funny moment, haha. Don’t fool around too much ladies or you’ll miss the bus! They almost did, by the way. Chiaki has the next few days planned out for everyone. It’s going to be a fun vacation! Chiaki plans to take a bunch of pictures and send them to Rin and Nadeshiko who are stuck at work. She just wants to rub it in their faces! Dang, that’s evil. The other two girls agree with me. Speaking of Nadeshiko, she’s working hard at her new job. Ganbatte!

First stop, Caribou! At the entrance, Ena and Aoi spot Caribou-kun and they can’t help but glomp him! Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve seen some good ol’ fashioned glomping. Chiaki thinks that they’re being childish but ends up glomping Caribou-kun as well, haha. Chiaki and Aoi end up buying some things that we don’t even get to see! Lame. Ena doesn’t purchase anything as she recently bought that doggy tent for Chikuwa. D’awww. The girls’ next stop is a hot spring with a great view of Mt. Fuji. I am envious.

After a nice soak, the girls enjoy some delicious ice cream. The girls are certainly feeling relaxed right now. Maybe they’re a little too relaxed as Ena and Chiaki almost fall asleep. You can sleep at the campsite! But before they go there, they have to make a quick stop at the grocery store to buy some ingredients to make kiritanpo. Sounds tasty! This idea actually came from Nadeshiko. She’s a real hot pot pro, don’t ya know? That’s why they call her the Hot Pot Fairy, Nabeshiko! Chiaki and Ena argue over who gets to make Nabeshiko their wife. In the end, they agree to share her. Aoi is visibly confused the entire time.

Eventually, the girls make it to Lake Yamanaka. They want to go to a bunch of fun places in the area but discover that they’re all closed during the winter. That’s unfortunate. But hey, they can still catch a boat ride and go to the art gallery! Actually, they can’t. Chiaki booked a place on the lake where there’s nothing in the vicinity. Ena and Aoi are not amused. It better have an amazing view! Luckily for them, it does! See? Chiaki knows what she’s doing. It’s going to be a great experience camping on the cape! Well, about that…yeah, they’re told that it isn’t allowed because it’s too dangerous. Oof. What now? I guess we’ll find out next time!

In Summary:
There has been a lot of Rin and Nadeshiko this season but not too much of the other girls. But they finally got some time to shine this week! You’ve got to share the love, you know? This was a fun episode with the usual hijinks you’d expect when these three get together. Plenty of great faces, too! I had a good chuckle when Chiaki and Ena were fighting over who got to make Nadeshiko their wife. I always knew this show should have been called Yuri Camp. Aoi never put herself in the running though. I think we all know who she’d rather have as her wife. As always, this show put me in a mellow mood and made me hungry. All I want to do right now is eat some kiritanpo and fall asleep in a hammock afterward. Is that too much to ask for!?
