‘Cells At Work! Code Black’ Anime Previews 7th Episode

The summer 2018 anime series Cells at Work announced previously that a second season was in the work and also that it’s adapting the Cells at Work! Code Black spinoff. With it getting underway with a January 9th, 2020 debut for the series, the official site has now updated with the latest promotion in the form of a preview of the seventh episode due out on February 6th, 2021. As with other promos, it’s only on Twitter as the YouTube versions are region-coded to Japan.

The series is directed by Hideyo Yamamoto based on the series composition and scripts by Hayashi Mori. Eiji Abiko is on board with the character designs and LIDEN Films is handling animation production.

The Japanese cast announced so far includes Junya Enoki as Red Blood Cell while Yoko Hikasa is White Blood Cell. Kenjiro Tsuda is serving as the narrator. Additional casting includes Hekiru Shiina as Macrophage, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Liver Cell, and Daisuke Hirakawa as Brain Cell.

The first series was directed by Kenichi Suzuki based on the series composition by Yuuko Kakihara. Takahiko Yoshida handled the character design and served as the chief animation director with the animation produced by David Production.

The manga began in winter 2015 and has five volumes released so far.
