With the HBO prequel series House of The Dragon set to land some time in 2022, there are a lot of related projects still in the works at the outfit. While the final season may not have been a fan favorite, it’s still one of the biggest series overall for the premium cabler, and giving it some breathing room before going back into it – with new creative behind it – is probably pretty smart.
With that in mind, a new series is entering development with Tales of Dunk & Egg, which is based on the novellas that are prequel stories taking place in the work. Nobody is publicly attached to it at this point.
Original creator George R.R. Martin has three novellas published for the property so far that are collected together under A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Plot Concept: Set in the world of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire on which Game of Thrones is based, the series would follow the adventures of Dunk (Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (the future king Aegon V. Targaryen), some 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, sources close to the project tell Deadline.
