Third ‘Titans’ TV Season Adds Savannah Welch As Barbara Gordon

2 min read

The second season of Titans wrapped up in late 2019 and we were told in November 2019 that the series was going to get a third season. The pandemic slowed down a lot of shows that were moving forward and this one got a little more “complicated” because of the DC Universe service shutting down and its projects being moved to various other outfits. Titans is moving to HBO Max as an exclusive series and now it’s been revealed that Savannah Welch has joined the show as Barbara Gordon, where she’ll be the Gotham City Police Commissioner. According to Variety, “She used to be Batgirl until she was shot and paralyzed by the Joker, leaving her wheelchair-bound. She has a combative relationship with Bruce Wayne. Her life gets more complicated when Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) returns to Gotham, rekindling their old romance and starting a new crime-fighting partnership.”

Welch, an amputee herself having lost a leg in 2016 in an accident, was seen recently in the Six series on History and has had roles in Boyhood and Tree of Life.

Check out our review of the first season.

The announced cast includes Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Teagan Croft as Raven, Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly Dove, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy.

The series will be done by Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and Warner Bros TV, which means there’s a very good chance it’ll connect with The CW shows to some degree as Berlanti’s projects have worked to keep that a part of things.

Plot Concept: Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven, and others.
