Vertical Comics made an interesting pickup on the manga front as announced at NYCC 2018 with Don’t Mess With Me, Nagatoro. The series comes from creator Nanashi which began serialization in late 2017 through the Pocket website which has eight volumes out as of July 9th, 2020. Right around that time, we had an anime adaptation announced which is on track for a spring 2021 premiere for it.
The series brought out some updates last November but now it’s brought out the first fully animated promo for it which gives us a better feeling for it. It looks like everything is still on track for an April 2021 debut as well.
The series will be directed by Hirokazu Hanai working from the series composition by Taku Kishimoto. Misaki Suzuki is on board as the character designer while Telecom Animation Film will be handling the animation production for it.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Sumire Uesaka as Nagatoro
- Daiki Yamashita as Senpai
- Mikako Komatsu as Gamo-chan
- Aina Suzuki as Yosshii
- Shiori Izawa as Sakura
Sumire Uesaka will be performing the opening theme song for the series which will definitely be a big plus.
Plot Concept: Nagatoro is a cute freshman in high school who loves to toy with her senior classmate (Senpai). Even though Nagatoro tricks Senpai, makes him cry, and teases him, the two of them are hardly ever apart. Do the two of them really like each other as friends? Or are they toying with the idea that they can be something more…? Find out in this rowdy romantic comedy!
