We learned at the end of 2018 that a new original work is coming with some interesting talent behind it called Back Arrow. With the series making its January 8th, 2021 premiere as part of the winter season, the official Japanese site is handling some of the weekly promotion and they’ve now dropped the first promotional video for the third episode. It’s set to air and stream on January 22nd, 2021. Check it out below!

Funimation previously announced their pickup of the series for streaming. The service will handle the show in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland; on AnimeLab in Australia and New Zealand; and on Wakanim in France, Germany, and Scandinavia.

The project comes from director Goro Taniguchi and writer Kazuki Nakashima of Code Geass and Promare respectively. Nakashima is handling the series composition here but also doing the individual scripts. Toshiyuki Kanno is adapting the designs that Shinobu Ohtaka put together and is serving as the chief animation director as well. Studio VOLN is handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Yuuki Kaji as Back Arrow, Aya Suzaki as Atlee Ariel, Ari Ozawa as Elsha Lean, Kensho Ono as Bit Namital, Ryotaro Okiayu as Kai Rhodan, Tomokazu Seki as Shū Bi, Megumi Han as Ren Sin, Ami Koshimizu as Fine Forte, Mikako Komatsu as Prax Conrad, Kenyuu Horiuchi as Zetsu Daidan, Kenta Miyake as Tae Howa, Tetsu Inada as Bai Toatsu, and Nobuyuki Hiyama as Goh Zanga.

The opening theme song is “dawn” by LiSA while the ending theme song will be “Seikai no Hate” by Shuka Saito.

Plot Concept: Ringarindo is a land surrounded by a wall. The wall covers, protects, cultivates, and nutures this land. The wall is god … it is the foundation of this land of Ringarindo.

One day, a mysterious man named Back Arrow appears in Essha village on the outskirts of Ringarindo. Arrow lost his memories, but says that all he knows is, “I came from beyond the wall.” To restore his memories, Arrow heads out beyond the wall, but is embroiled in a battle with himself as the stakes.
