With the second volume of compiled material for the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan work out on July 19th, 2018, we had learned about there being an OAD release with it that has apparently shifted to being an OVA that will get a theatrical release. With the first two episodes produced and getting their theatrical run already, the four-episode total show will make its debut on the service in 2021.
Now, Netflix has updated on the project by dropping a new promotional trailer below and revealing a February 18th, 2021 debut for the project that will stream in 190 countries as they go for a worldwide drop. The trailer is in its original Japanese but has English subtitles for its two-minute run.
The original manga from Hirohiko Araki is essentially a series one-shots spun off from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure produced since 1997 that focuses on the character of Kishibe. The second story was published back in 2008 in Jump Square.
The OAD is directed by Toshiyuki Kato with character designs by Shunichi Ishimoto and Stands by Kenta Mimuro. David Production is handling the animation for it.
The Japanese cast includes Takahiro Sakurai as Rohan Kishibe, Kaori Mizuhashi as Ikkyū, Mai Nakahara as Kyōka Izumi, Wataru Takagi as Okuyasu Nijimura, and Yuuki Kaji as Kōichi Hirose.
Plot Concept: The property features the character Rohan Kishibe, a manga artist who travels around the world to get inspiration from people’s lives.
