When Funimation brought out their home video version of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid back in April 2018, we figured that would be the end of the anime experience for the show since it had been a bit since its original broadcast run. Then, back in February 2019, it was revealed that a second season was coming, which got a lot of people excited and happy over it.

We got some cute character promos at the end of 2020, a good way to close out that year, and now the official site has updated to reveal a new character visual as well as setting a July 2021 debut for the series as part of the summer season.

Check out our review of the first season of the series.

The work comes from Coolkyoushinja with seven volumes to its name so far. The series was directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto based on the series composition from Yuka Yamada and the character designs by Miku Kadowaki.

The Japanese cast includes Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi, Yūki Kuwahara as Tohru, Maria Naganawa as Kanna, Yūki Takada as Eruma, Minami Takahashi as Rukoa, Emiri Katou as Riko Saikawa, Yuuko Gotou as Georgie Saikawa and Kaori Ishihara as Magatsuchi Shouta.

The show was directed by Kyle Phillips with scripts from Jamie Marchi. The main cast includes Leah Clark as Miss Kobayashi, Sarah Wiedenheft as Tohru, Jad Saxton as Kanna, Garret Storms as Fafnir, Jamie Marchi as Lucoa, and Jeff Johnson as Takiya Makoto.

The opening theme “Aozora no Rhapsody” was performed by fhána while the group Choro-gonzu, which is made up of the voice actresses from the show, performed the ending theme “Ishukan Communication.”

Seven Seas picked up the rights to the series back in December 2015.

Plot concept: Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
