With the Saiyuki Reload Blast series out back in 2018 and the Burial project as well, it’s been quiet when it comes to the anime side of Kazuya Minekura’s property that we’ve seemingly covered for over two decades so far. Now, Frontier Works has shaken things up with the posting of a new teaser this weekend for Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN- which will adapt the “Even a Worm” arc of the manga.
With the main cast returning for it, it’ll be adding Houchu Ohtsuka to the mix as well. The main Japanese cast includes Toshihiko Seki as Genjo Sanzo, Souichiro Hoshi as Son Goku, Hiroaki Hirata as Sha Gojyo, and Akira Ishida as Cho Hakkai.
This project will be animated by LIDEN FILMS with staffing to be revealed. The key visual to the right comes from Minekura to celebrate the announcement.
This incarnation of the property kicked off in 2009 with Kazuya Minekura working at it through her health issues.
Property Concept: Many years ago, humans and demons lived in harmony. But that unity ended when demons started attacking humans and plotted a mission to unleash Gyumao – an evil demon imprisoned for thousands of years.
