Prepare to fall in love, over and over again

One Week Friends Japanese Blu-ray Box Set CoverOne of the more charming shows that’s pretty much hard to get at this point is the 2014 anime adaptation of One Week Friends. The project was released as both DVD and Blu-ray editions at the time but Sentai only has the DVD available at this point and no Blu-ray listings nor any streaming availability for it either. Which is unfortunate as it should be seen more. That said, they’ve finally added their trailer for it to check out as they only had it on their home video releases previously.

Check out our review of the series.

One Week Friends is based on the work by original creator Matcha Hazuki and is directed by Tarou Iwasaki (Sunday Without God, Another), with series composition by Shotaro Suga (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, The Eccentric Family), art direction by Akira Ito (Bodacious Space Pirates, AKB0048), and animation production by Brains Base (Penguindrum, Amnesia).

Plot Concept: Every lifetime is composed of millions of memories… but what happens if those memories don’t all connect? When Yuki Hase notices that Kaori Fujimiya seems to be alone and friendless at his school, he immediately wants to reach out to her. Much to his surprise, though, his overtures are turned down, and he’s completely stunned when he finds out why: it seems that ever since she was in a tragic accident, Kaori has been losing part of her memory every Monday, including all her recollection of everyone who’s become her friend. It’s not that she doesn’t want friends, but that she can’t remember having any. That’s not enough of an obstacle for Yuki, however, and he becomes determined to make friends with Kaori every week. Because while most memories fade, there are some that, if you believe strongly enough and never give up, might just be able to last forever. Prepare to fall in love, over and over again, as the age old story of boy meets girl repeats itself every week in ONE WEEK FRIENDS.
