‘Scum’s Wish’ Anime Gets Amazon Streaming Expiration Date

2 min read

While Sentai Filmworks previously brought out the home video release back on September 25th, 2018 for Scum’s Wish, the series is still streaming through Amazon Prime as part of its original licensing. This could hopefully open things up to allow Sentai Filmworks to bring the streaming to HIDIVE for the simulcast as well as finally allowing them to be able to stream the dub. The show is set to expire on January 12th, 2021.

Check out our review of the series.

The show was directed by Masaomi Ando based on the series composition by Makoto Uezu. Keiko Kurosawa served as both the animation director and character designer for it with Lerche handling the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Chika Anzai as Hanabi Yasuraoka, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Mugi Awaya, Haruka Tomatsu as Sanae Ebato, Shiori Izawa as Noriko Kamomebata, Kenji Nojima as Narumi Kanai and Aki Toyosaki as Akane Minagawa.

Shannon Reed directed this series and the English cast includes Avery Smithhart as Hanabi, Greg Cole as Mugi Awaya, Maggie Flecknoe as Akane Minagawa, Adam Noble as Narumi Kanai, Brittney Karbowski as Noriko, Molly Searcy as Sanae, Joe Daniels as Atsuya, Courtney Lomelo as Hanabi’s Mother, Christina Kelly as Mei, Gabriel Regojo as Terauchi, Juliet Simmons as Mito, Katelyn Barr as Ayumi, Brittney Karbowski as Little Noriko, Maggie Flecknoe as Teenage Akane, Avery Smithhart as Young Hanabi, and Katelyn Barr as Young Mugi.

The original work began in September 2012 in Big Gangan magazine and has done pretty well since then with some creative stories that have garnered some good attention from readers.

Plot concept: Hanabi has loved her older friend Narumi for years, but she’s still in high school and not only is Narumi now her new homeroom teacher, he’s also clearly in love with the music teacher, Akane. And as awkward as being the unwanted third in a romantic triangle can be, things become even more twisted for Hanabi when she learns that another student, Mugi, is in love with Akane. That leads to a strange idea: since the ones that Mugi and Hanabi are in love with aren’t available, the two unrequited thirds start to explore the idea of becoming each other’s substitute surrogate relationship. It’s not about romance, of course. Just sex and convenience. Or at least that’s what they keep telling themselves as love’s wires become hopelessly crossed and ensnarled in SCUM’S WISH.
