The spring 2020 anime adaptation of the manga The Gal and the Dinosaur from Moriko Mori and Cota Tomimura is getting its home video releases handled by King Records. The distributor had previously set a four-volume release for the twelve-episode series that was going to begin on May 27th, 2020. That went out the window with the COVID-19 pandemic and the series being pushed back with a later start that will begin in October. The DVDs and Blu-rays are both priced the same at 5,800 yen and with the fourth and final volume coming up on January 27th, 2021, the first artwork for it has now arrived!
The anime series has Jun Aoki on board as the series director and script supervisor while Space Neko Company and Kamikaze Douga are handling the animation production.
The Japanese anime cast includes:, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Kaede, Yuko Natsuyoshi as Yamada, Youki Kudou as Kaede’s senior colleague, and Seiichirō Yamashita as Shōta.
The creators, who are married, began the book in 2018 as serialized in Young Magazine. It has two volumes out so far since it began.
Plot concept: The comedy series will follow Kaede, a Japanese “gal” who brings home a dinosaur one day. We’ll see their day-to-day lives unfold in quirky situations as this goofy-looking dinosaur enjoys culinary delicacies, binges the latest shows on television, and gets wrapped up in the world of fashion while living with Kaede.
