‘Non Non Biyori’ Manga Ending

2 min read
Home really is where the heart is. The girls may be the same, but the hijinks have changed.

The Non Non Biyori franchise has done well over the years but it looks like creator Atto is ready to wrap things up. With eleven years worth of manga under its belt, the series is set to finish up with the February 27th, 2021 installment of the Comic Alive magazine. No reason was given but with it happening in the middle of the third season of the anime means it’s definitely a positive farewell for the property.

The first two series were directed by Shinya Kawamo based on the overall composition by Reiko Yoshida who also wrote the scripts alongside Fumihiko Shimo and Yuka Yamada. Mai Otsuka served as the character design and the project was animated at Silver Link.

The anime is based on the manga by Atto that began in 2009 under Media Factory, which has fifteen volumes so far. Seven Seas Entertainment has the North American license for the manga.

Plot concept: When Hotaru moves from Tokyo to a tiny town in the rural countryside, she’s in for some serious culture shock: the nearest place that sells comics is 20 minutes away, the nearest video store is ten train stations down the line, and there are only three other girls and one boy in her entire school! Even though everything’s so different, there’s something about the laid-back atmosphere that makes her feel strangely comfortable. While she’ll certainly miss parts of her old life, there’s a whole lifetime of experiences waiting to be enjoyed with her new friends Renge, Komari, Natsumi, and Suguru! In the end, it’s who you’re with, not where you are, that makes a place your home!
