‘Josee, the Tiger and the Fish’ Anime Film Streams First 4 Minutes

With an original story back in 1985 from Seiko Tanabe that saw a 2003 live-action film, the anime adaptation of Josee, The Tiger and the Fish is moving right along. With it set for a December 25th, 2020 debut date after being pushed back due to the usual issues, the latest update is what we enjoy that a lot of films have done in the last few years. The official site is now streaming the first four minutes of this BONES animated film for people to check out and anticipate all the more.

Recently, Anime Limited confirmed that they have picked up the film for distribution with plans for a 2021 debut with some theatrical screenings and a home video release in the UK.

The film is directed by Kotaro Tamura based on the screenplay by Sayaka Kuwamura. Haruka Iizuka is adapting the character designs from Nao Emoto.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Taishi Nakagawa as Tsuneo Suzukawa
  • Kaya Kiyohara as Josee
  • Yume Miyamoto as Mai Ninomiya
  • Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hayato Matsūra
  • Lynn as Kana Kishimoto
  • Chiemi Matsutera as Chizu Yamamura

Plot Concept: The film focuses on the relationship between Tsuneo and Josee. Tsuneo is a university student, and Josee is a young girl who has rarely gone out of the house by herself due to her being unable to walk. The two meet when Tsuneo finds Josee’s grandmother taking her out for a morning walk.
