Originally serialized in Comic Bavel from the January 2021installment, After Aroma is a twenty-four-page story from creator fu-ta, who has just about under thirty other works on the service. This marked my first experience with this particular creator as I haven’t read anything by them but became interested when this was shown as one of the new releases out so I thought I’d try something new. With the extra page count there’s plenty of room to do a lot here but it’s not given over to story or character material that much, instead just on the other good stuff, which is fun as fu-ta’s artwork is pretty great and there’s a lot of intensity about it. But just like our leading lady, it becomes so much that it’s just an ongoing pummelling basically.
For this story, we’re introduced to Ren as she deals with finishing her shower and brewing a good cup of coffee. She’s intent on getting her boyfriend up, known only as senpai here, so they can get the sheets hanging from a big session last night and head out into the city since senpai’s been cooped up in the apartment for a while with schoolwork. It’s cute seeing her trying to get him out of bed – and just to have him in pajamas and her dressed as casually as she is, and having him playfully resist. Of course, he’s not all that interested in doing anything that they’re supposed to and it doesn’t take long for the playfulness to tease her into bed again. She resists pretty well since she’s thinking about what they need to do, but he’s got the magic touch with her and her body is incredibly receptive to it even when she isn’t quite sure she wants it to be.
Senpai, for his part, knows all the right buttons to put and a large chunk of this has her almost fully dressed, just with the clothes falling off more and more as time goes on and as the encounter gets even more intense and heated. There are some almost comical expressions out of her face as they really go to town but it works well to show the way that her body is wired for this and once she’s on, she can’t get herself to stop much. The two play around a lot and have a really good rhythm with each other, especially when he brings out the toy that takes her even further than she usually goes, as he knows exactly how to make her feel good. Which in turn makes him feel good and he can’t resist doing more and more. There’s some mild montage material toward the end as they move about the room that’s really cute as well and helps to make them feel even more couple-like.
In Summary
After Aroma is a pretty fun story overall but one that didn’t get to really maximize its pages in a way that really worked. I’m not complaining that it’s using the majority of its pages for the actual hot material but it’s the kind of thing that a few more pages overall would have gone a long way toward really making these characters come alive compared to what we get. That said, it uses its pages well when it comes to the hot material as it’s just something that keeps going and going and going, which definitely has its moments. It’s a pretty good chapter overall but not one to make me add fu-ta to my must-watch list of creators based on it.
