Madman Adds ‘Kabukicho’ Anime Blu-ray Release Plans

2 min read
In Kabukicho is the Detective's Row House, a home to colorful detectives who compete to earn that pay day.

The fall 2019 / winter 2020 anime series Kabukicho Sherlock is getting its simulcast handled as Case File nº221: Kabukicho and it kicked off back on October 11th, 2019 with AnimeLab streaming it. Madman Entertainment is now set to bring the show to Australian audiences as they’ve scheduled a Blu-ray release for it. The series is set for a March 3rd, 2021 release priced at $64.95 for the set. No extras are listed for it yet but it’ll be a bilingual two-disc set that will likely replicate what Funimation has on their releases.

The show has Ai Yoshimura directing it with Taku Kishimoto handling the scripting side. Toshiyuki Yahai is on board with the character designs and Production I.G. on the anime production.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes Katsuyuki Konishi as Sherlock, Yūichi Nakamura as John H. Watson, Seiichirō Yamashita as James Moriarty, Sōma Saitō as Fuyuto Kyogoku, Nao Tōyama as Mary Morstan, Mariko Higashiuchi as Lucy Morstan, Yutaka Aoyama as Michel Belmont, Tatsumaru Tachibana as Toratarō Kobayashi, Seiichirō Yamashita as James Moriarty, and Junichi Suwabe as Mrs. Hudson.

Plot Concept: The East Side of Shinjuku Ward … The neon-lit Kabuki-chō district stretches across the center of this chaotic city. Where light shines, there are also deep shadows. Yet even deep in this darkness where evildoers lurk, the light of a detective tenement shines. The tenement run by Mrs. Hudson has seven peculiar, shady individuals. The curtain has risen on this stage on the night when a bizarre murder by Jack the Ripper has occurred. Is this suspense? No, comedy? An indistinguishable drama is about to begin…
