Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the December 2020 installment, @Home Video is an eighteen-page story from creator Okinaga Umanosuke, who has over dozen other works on the service. I’d gotten on a bit of a roll with some of their other titles this past summer after being wowed by their artwork and after going through a lot of it, I continue to just be cautious with the tags to make sure I’m finding the right material. This one caught my eye with tags that seemed to be appealing and just the initial visual that played right with the lingerie aspect and the whole home video recording element itself. That can go in oh so many ways.
The premise for this introduces us to the happily married couple of Masaki and Himari, where Himari’s sister is visiting and venting about cheating boyfriends and how Masaki is probably the same. The whole thing devolves into a hysterical fight between the two but it also raises things for Himari after her sister leaves. She’s worried about her husband not seeing her as a woman and falling for someone else since she’s just a housewife. Masaki reassures her as best as he can and it at least looks like he’s not cheating elsewhere so we aren’t falling into that category here. What he’s doing, however, is trying something new to get her to realize that she is sexy and he interested in her, even if they don’t go at it as hot and hard as they did in college.
And that’s bringing a good handheld camera into the bedroom where she’s bought a cute new sexy outfit to wear for it. There are some really cute moments at first with how it unfolds, making Himari all the more adorable, but the reality is that Masaki sees this as a way to try and edge her out of her comfort zone a bit by saying more of what he likes as “the director” for it. And she’s fully responsive which leads to a really heightened mood between the two and a lot of really hot sessions. So much so that she orders some additional equipment to take it to the next level (realistically) and it gets even hotter. There’s not an overuse of technology here or anything and we get some nice through the lens kinds of shots that aren’t overdone either, which results in a really good-looking story overall that’s not just flat and the same throughout.
In Summary
Umanosuke’s artwork is a huge draw and I really like that they shifted to something that feels different here as it’s the cute and simple housewife thing without it being the big and buxom type. If anything, this feels more “anime-normal” than manga or hentai normal and the end result is fantastic. I loved the lead-up sequence that humanized everyone and how Masaki tries to ease things and then the time spent as a couple in intimate mode. It’s got some great costume designs to it, some fun technology nods, and a look overall that’s really hot and exciting to watch unfold.
