Shinra and Arthur are up against Giovanni for round 2. This has the makings for a legendary battle. Giovanni has experimented on his body with various insects and became a freak of nature. Giovanni is pushing all of Shinra’s buttons with shocking revelations of his brother’s fate. Giovanni has been this series’s most entertaining villain and puts up quite a show. He steers into his ambitions without a shred of confusion. Just look at Shinra’s face down below. Shinra’s devil face hasn’t been shown too often this season. Giovanni is one of the few capable of bringing it out of Shinra.

Squad 2 and 8 in a pinch as they realized what the White-Clad have in plan for the Nether. Ritsu used the bodies of Company 2’s dead fire soldiers and turned them into Infernos. She is going to use the Infernos to blow up and generate enough force to destroy Tokyo. The only hope for the Fire Force is that they need a second-generation Fire Soldier to control the flames to divert the force of the blast. They all know someone who can control the flames but she moved to the army and she’s stuck in an office chair bored out of her mind. It turns out Vulcan gave Maki a communication device and she up to speed on everything that been happening in the Nether. She shows up in the Nether in the last second to be the best hero and make everyone know that fact. This was some valuable screen time for Maki and she takes full advantage of it. It’s nice to know that heroes put their lives in danger for the sake of others. But I wish there were a more definite resolution for Maki dealing with her family expectations.

This is the first time that Captain Gustav of the Second Company makes his appearance and he isn’t the best boss. Most of his company got wiped out. Juggernaut lost an arm and a leg protecting Tamaki. Despite all of this, Gustav shows the most compassion towards Tamaki. There’s was the minor characters whose dreams ranged from mediocrity such as wearing brand new sneakers to the fire soldiers’ sweet dreams such as getting married or having children. But let’s forget about those people and worry about Tamaki.

In Summary
The end to this Nether arc felt completely underwhelming. Things down in the Nether just got magically solved and everyone moved on. There should have been something to make it a bit more exciting. This episode is promising a lot of neat stuff for the long term future but it forgets about the current season. Season 2 is coming to an end and there no overarching arc to close off the season. Giovanni reveals that having an Adolla Link means being connected to Adolla. Having Shinra return to Company 7’s territory and figure out the connection between Konro and Adolla is going to be great.
