The Wave!! anime adaptation trilogy wrapped up in Japan with the third and final block of it coming out at the end of October and running for a couple of weeks. With it done and out of the limited theatrical run that it had, it’s now been revealed that the three-part film is being reworked as a TV series as well, called the “complete edition.” It’s scheduled for a January 11th, 2020 debut on TV Tokyo and a new promotional video has landed below as well as a key visual designed to promote the TV edition.
Takaharu Ozaki is directing based on the screenplay by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. Yomi Sarachi is working on the original character designs with Tomoko Iwasa adapting them for the animation whose production is being handled by Asahi Production.
The Japanese cast includes Tomoaki Maeno as Masaki Hinaoka, Jin Ogasawara as Shō Akitsuki, Yoshiki Nakajima as Nalu Tanaka, Takuya Satō as Kōsuke Iwana, Yusuke Shirai as Yūta Matsukaze, Shunichi Toki as Naoya Kido, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Rindō Fuke, and Showtaro Morikubo as Sōichirō William Mori.

Plot Concept: The show takes place in the city of Ōarai in Ibaraki prefecture, and centers on Masaki Hinaoka, who befriends transfer student Shō Akitsuki before the summer break, and ends up getting hooked on surfing. Through the sport, Masaki will get to know new friends, and will also drift apart from them in his journey to adulthood.
