With an original story back in 1985 from Seiko Tanabe that saw a 2003 live-action film, the anime adaptation of Josee, The Tiger and the Fish is moving right along. We recently learned that it’s set for a December 25th, 2020 debut date after being pushed back due to the usual issues. With that getting closer and closer, a new key visual has been released that you can see below as well as a new trailer that clocks in at just about two minutes.
The film is directed by Kotaro Tamura based on the screenplay by Sayaka Kuwamura. Haruka Iizuka is adapting the character designs from Nao Emoto.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Taishi Nakagawa as Tsuneo Suzukawa
- Kaya Kiyohara as Josee
- Yume Miyamoto as Mai Ninomiya
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hayato Matsūra
- Lynn as Kana Kishimoto
- Chiemi Matsutera as Chizu Yamamura

Plot Concept: The film focuses on the relationship between Tsuneo and Josee. Tsuneo is a university student, and Josee is a young girl who has rarely gone out of the house by herself due to her being unable to walk. The two meet when Tsuneo finds Josee’s grandmother taking her out for a morning walk.
