The fall 2020 anime adaptation of the Moriarty the Patriot property is moving right along with the first of its two-cour run and a new bit of promotion has surfaced regarding it. The official site has dropped a new minute-long spot to highlight what’s coming next in the series as the second cour is scheduled for an April 2021 debut with a firm date to come later.
Kazuya Nomura is directing it with Tooru Ohkubo on board for the character designs. Production I.G. is on board for the animation.
The previously announced Japanese cast includes Sōma Saitō as William James Moriarty, Takuya Sato as Albert James Moriarty, Chiaki Kobayashi as Louis James Moriarty, Makoto Furukawa as Sherlock Holmes, Yuuki Ono as John H Watson, Satoshi Hino as Sebastian Moran, and Yuuto Uemura as Fred Porlock.
The manga comes from Ryosuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi which began in Jump SQ back in August 2016. It’s produced ten volumes as of the announcement in December 2019. A novel was produced for it in fall 2018.
The theme songs for the series include the opening being “DYING WISH” by Tasuku Hatanaka while STEREO DRIVE FOUNDATION will perform “ALPHA” as the ending theme song.
Plot Concept: James Moriarty is an orphan who assumes the name William James Moriarty when he and his younger brother are adopted into the Moriarty family. As a young man, he seeks to remove the ills caused by England’s strict class system.
