Announced last fall, a new feature film in the Ojamajo Doremi world is coming that was formally scheduled for the summer 2020 period. The film was delayed earlier this year but it’s getting a special showcase at the 33rd TIFF at the end of October 2020 before it has its Japanese debut for general audiences on November 13th, 2020. With that coming up in just a couple of days, the distributor for it has dropped three new TV spots that clock in at 38-seconds and shows off the three main characters from it with Sora, Mire, and Reika.
The cast includes:
- Aoi Morikawa as Sora Nagase
- Chiemi Chiba as Doremi Harukaze
- Kanako Momota as Reika Kawatani
- Nami Miyahara as Momoko Asuka
- Rena Matsui as Mire Yoshizuki
- Rumi Shishido as Onpu Segawa
- Sawa Ishige as Pop Harukaze
- Tomoko Akiya as Hazuki Fujiwara
- Yuki Matsuoka as Aiko Senoo
- Akira Ishida as Hayato Yabe
- Kenta Hamano as Seiya Kubo
- Shohei Miura as Ryūichi Oomiya
Going under the name Majo Minarai o Sagashite, which translates to Looking for Witch Apprentices, it’ll be directed by Junichi Sato based on the screenplay by Midori Kuriyama. Yoshihiko Umakoshi is on board with the character designs with Toei Animation handling the production.
Plot Concept: The story follows 27-year-old Tokyo office worker Mire Yoshitsuki who just returned to Japan, 22-year-old fourth-year college student Sora Nagase who aspires to be a teacher, and 20-year-old boyish, part-time Hiroshima okonomiyaki shop worker and freelancer Reika Kawatani. What draws together these three women from completely different walks of life is a magic gem. A “New Magical Story” begins when they are mysteriously brought together by chance and embark on a journey.
