After releasing a lot of this property for fans over the last few years, we’ve had the Armored Trooper VOTOMS coming out in the US with some SDBD collections and the like from Maiden Japan. now, Bandai Namco has scheduled a “Perfect Soldier” box set for a February 25th, 2021 release where it’ll be priced at a whopping 85,000 yen. You don’t see sets like these much anymore. And for good reason as it’s chock full of content. The release is a twenty-one disc set where only one is a CD – the original soundtrack – and it looks like the rest of the releases have all the original extras, which are largely clean opening and closings, picture dramas, and commentaries where they originally appeared. There are two booklets being produced as well that clock in at 104-pages each with an archives piece and an artwork piece.
The initial conversation about the release indicates a few things; the release has Yousuke Takahashi overseeing the HD master which is very appealing. It looks like only the Brilliant Shining Heresy will be an upscale through Q-Tec while everything else is remastered in HD from film. We’ll hold out on how the Mellowlink piece is being handled as past releases have just looked awful.
