2 min read
The series has landed on Netflix with some interesting language options.

With a January 12th, 2020 debut set on Netflix in Japan, the Dorohedoro anime wrapped up its run there awhile ago and Netflix brought the series out for a May 28th, 2020 worldwide debut for it. That twelve-episode season has been available for streaming here on the service. Now, Netflix has brought out the OVA for it which was scheduled for an October 15th, 2020 debut where it has the same language options as before.

Check out our review of the series.

Langauge availability is where we were most curious and they’ve brought it out in its original Japanese language while also adding English and Thai dubs. Subtitles are offered for English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. There are also Japanese closed-captions available as well.

Yuichiro Hayashi is directing based on the series composition by Hiroshi Seko. Tomohiro Kishi is working on the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Wataru Takagi as Caiman, Reina Kondo as Nikaidō, Yu Kobayashi as Noi, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shin, Kengo Takanashi as Fujita, Kenyuu Horiuchi as En, Miyu Tomita as Ebisu, Hisao Egawa as Vaux, and Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Kasukabe. Additional casting includes Mayu Udono as Kikurage, Songdo as Risu, Tetsu Inada as Tanba, Shinichiro Miki as Turkey, Hozumi Gōda as Asu, Anri Katsu as Chōta, Tooru Nara as Matsumura, Takuma Terashima as Fukuyama, Mayu Udono as Aitake and Maitake, Hiro Shimono, Takehito Koyasu, and Miyuri Shimabukuro.

The manga began back in 1999 and wrapped up with twenty-three volumes at the time of the announcement.

Plot Concept: In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.
