Sentai Filmworks brought out the Hamatora and Re: Hamatora series back in 2015 and 2016 respectively but like a lot of shows from that time period they neglected to bring out the trailers they produced to their channel, just onto home video releases. They’ve now added the trailer for this series to the ongoing updates they’re doing and it’s a fun little trip down memory lane. The series is still in-print from the distributor and it’s also streaming on HIDIVE.
Check out our review of the first season here and the second season here.
Hamatora is based on the original work by Cafe Nowhere with Seiji Kishi directing based on scripts by Yukinori Kitajima and Jun Kumagi with character designs by Yu Wazu and Keiko Kuraosawa. Kurosawa will also be handling the animation direction. The cast includes Hiroshi Kamiya as Art, Ryota Ohsaka as Nice, Wataru Hatano as Murasaki, Emiri Katō as Hajime, Eri Kitamura as Honey, Jun Fukuyama as Birthday, Katsuki Murase as Three, Kiyono Yasuno as Koneko, Takuya Eguchi as Mao, Yūichi Nakamura as Ratio, Yousuke Akimoto as Gasuke and Atsushi Ono as Master.
Plot concept: Nowhere may seem like just another Yokohama cafe, but as with many of its employees, this apparently innocent eatery leads a double life. Because Nowhere is also where you can find Hamatora, the mysterious detective agency run by P.I.s who are Minimum Holders, individuals gifted with extraordinary powers and abilities. When a series of serial murders all turn out to involve other Minimum Holders, their kind may be targeted for extinction in Hamatora the Animation! For the right price, you can hire founder Nice, who moves at the speed of sound, and partner Murasaki, whose super strength and near invulnerability are a significant asset. Of course, with incredible talents like these up their sleeves, Nice may not decide to take a case unless it personally interests him. But when a series of serial murders all turn out to involve other Minimum Holders, that interest is about to become extremely personal. Something monstrous is going on, and Minimum Holders as a class may be targeted for extinction!
