Back in March, TOHO revealed an original anime work called Kimi wa Kanata. Translating as You Are the Beyond, it’s scheduled for a November 27th, 2020 debut in Japan and looks to be sticking with that day. The latest update to come in brings us a new teaser trailer for the film and an expansion on the cast with:

  • Mari Natsuki as Mori Obaa-chan
  • Naoto Takenaka as Mogari
  • Anna Tsuchiya as Orika
  • Nobuko Sendō as Sachi Miyamasu
  • Takehiro Kimoto as the lost and found officer

Yoshinobu Sena wrote the screenplay and directed it while also coming up with the original concept. Digital Network Animation is on board for the production.

The film stars Honoka Matsumoto as Mio and Toshiki Seto as Shin in the leading roles while supporting roles include Saori Hayami as Kiku-chan and Yui Ogura as Madoka.

Plot Concept: The film is set in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district, and centers on two childhood friends named Mio and Shin. Mio has feelings for Shin, and always thinks about him, but has never been able to tell him how she feels. One day, they get into an argument over something trivial, and sometime afterward, Mio decides to make up with him. As she heads to Shin while being drenched by the rain, she gets into a traffic accident. When Mio regains consciousness, she finds herself in a new and unfamiliar world.
