The Black Adam film has been in a wait-state for awhile with Dwayne Johnson set to star as the title character for Warner Bros. / New Line. The project has set filming to begin in early 2021 in Georgia and with a December 22nd, 2021 release date set for it and things are starting to ramp up more as we got the mild teaser concept piece during the DC FanDome event recently.
Now, a new bit of casting has come out with Johnson confirming it himself in that Aldis Hodge has joined the project as Carter Hall, aka Hawkman. This character has one of the more convoluted histories in DC Comics but he’s been around since the Justice Society of America days in the 40s and is a staple of the original publisher. Hodge was seen in The Invisible Man recently and is in the upcoming One Night in Miami film. He’s had numerous TV roles and is the main character on City on a Hill while also playing Craft in Star Trek: Short Treks.
Jaume Collet-Serra is on board to direct based on the screenplay turned in by Adam Sztykiel.
The cast includes Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Djimon Hounsou as Shazam.
