‘Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls-‘ Anime Reveals New Promo & Cast Additions

We learned in April 2020 about the adaptation of the web manga series Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls-. The series was previously set for an October 3rd, 2020 premiere date. It’s also the launch title for a new block on Asahi Broadcasting called “ANiMAZiNG!!!”. Now, as the series gets closer, a new round of cast additions has been revealed along with a new promo that highlights the theme music more.

The project is directed by Tetsuro Amino based on the scripts by Touko Machida. Yoshihiro Watanabe is working on the character designs with studio BLADE handling the production of the animation.

The Japanese cast (new cast italicized) includes:

  • Sumire Uesaka as Konomi Kasahara
  • Yui Ishikawa as Jun Uehara
  • Aina Suzuki as Sayo Yotsuba
  • Miyu Tomita as Nonoaka Sugiura
  • Mikako Komatsu as Chinari Iwamine
  • Sachi Kokuryu as Chigusa Kumagai
  • Chihiro Ueda as Masumi Fujita
  • Daria Midou as Rina Samura
  • Machico as Kurea Ōba
  • Yukari Tamura as Anne Kurusu
  • Akane Fujita as Akane Uchimura
  • Yuka Terasaki as Kaoru Niijima
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Maruno Satō
  • Carin Isobe as Hifumi Benibana
  • Takehito Koyasu as Jūzō Gotō
  • Sayaka Harada as Kikuko Gotō
  • Ami Koshimizu as Asuka Fujimura

Aina Suzuki is performing the opening theme song “MottoTakaku” while the main cast of Sumire Uesaka, Yui Ishikawa, Aina Suzuki, and Miyu Tomita will perform the ending theme song “LET’S CLIMB” in-character under the unit Hanamiya Girls’ High School Climbing Team.

The manga from Ryudai Ishizaka began in 2017 and has two volumes released digitally so far.

Plot Concept: The story focuses on a former national champion puzzle gamer who uses her ability of analysis to become a natural at climbing.
