The summer 2020 anime adaptation of the Monster Girl Doctor manga is getting its home video releases handled by Bandai Visual and they’ve set an interesting plan for it. The project is getting both DVD and Blu-ray releases but very different ones. The DVD side is being done as a six-volume release for the twelve-episode series beginning on October 28th, 2020 and wrapping up on March 26th, 2021. While we’ve seen some Blu-ray packaging and artwork so far, we now have a look at the first two covers for the DVD releases as well to see how similar yet different they are.

The DVD releases will be priced at 5,000 yen each. The Blu-ray side are listed as limited editions that begin on October 28th, 2020 and are priced at 15,000 yen and there are just three of them. We’ll be following those (and including DVD cover artwork as well) below.

The series was directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki based on the series composition by Hideki Shirane. Hiroi Kato handled the character designs with Arvo Animation handling the production.

The series has brought on Saori Inoshi to play Saphentite “Sapphee” Neikes while Shunichi Toki has signed on to play Glenn Leitbeit. Additional casting includes Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Tisaria Scudia, Yukiyo Fujii as Lulala Haine, Yu Shimamura as Aranya Trantella Alakunida, Atsumi Tanezaki as Scadi, Maki Kawase as Kunai, Sayumi Suzushiro as Ily, Miho Okasaki as Meme, Ai Fairouz as Kei, M.A.O. as Rona, Hisako Kanemoto as Dione, and Yukana as Cthulhu.

The series is adapting the light novels by Yoshino Origuchi with artwork by Z-Ton which began in 2016. The series has seven volumes out with Seven Seas Entertainment releasing them in English.

The opening theme song “Campanella Hibiku Sora de” will be performed by ARCNA Project. The ending theme song “Yasahisa no Namae” will be performed by Aina Suzuki.

Plot Concept: In the town of Lindworm where monsters and humans coexist, Dr. Glenn runs an exemplary medical clinic for monster girls with his lamia assistant, Sapphee. Whether receiving a marriage proposal by a centaur injured in battle, palpating the injury of a mermaid, or suturing the delicate wounds of a flesh golem, Dr. Glenn performs his job with grace and confidence. But when an unsavory character seeks to steal a harpy egg, how will the unflappable Dr. Glenn respond…?
