‘Otherside Picnic’ Yuri SF Novel Anime Adaptation Sets Premiere

The yuri-themed science fiction novel series Otherside Picnic has revealed that it’s getting an anime adaptation. Announced back in March but in production before that, the project has now revealed to be part of the winter 2021 season with a January debut being set for it. The reveal comes with news of a new promo and key visual coming up very soon. The anime will be directed by Takiya Sato at LIDEN Films and Felix Films where he’s also handling the scripts.

The Japanese cast includes Yumiri Hanamori as Sorao Kamikoshi and Ai Kayano as Toriko Nishina.

The original work comes from writer Iori Miyazawa with artwork by shirakaba. It began in 2017 and has four volumes out so far. A manga began in 2018 by Eita Mizuno that has three volumes out. J-Novel Club is currently publishing the novel series.

Plot Concept: Her first encounter with Toriko Nishina was on the Otherside after seeing “that thing” and nearly dying.

Ever since that day, exhausted university student Sorawo Kamikoshi’s life changed. In this Otherworld, full of mystery, which exists alongside our own, dangerous beings like the Kunekune and Hasshaku-sama that are spoken of in real ghost stories appear. For research, for profit, and to find an important person, Toriko and Sorawo set foot into the abnormal.
