What They Say:
Demetrios was a young man in Ancient Greece who was a potter’s apprentice, but also a rather timid otaku. Despite pursuing the arts, he was blessed with natural athletic talent. One day, he gets dragged into a village conflict. Demetrios contemplates how helpless he is, but then is struck by lightning! When he comes to, he is no longer in Greece, but a strange land where he can’t understand the language and people look rather different. Yes, he somehow ended up in 1964 Tokyo! Of course, Demetrios has no idea what Japan even is. What will become of him?!

Getting the Tortonian Olympics more well-known is definitely a double-edged sword as it brings the mayor and the town more fame but it also costs money to put together, which is in short supply because the actual event won’t make any money. With the mayor having spent so much, he’s glad to dodge Eleia and the potential fines that could come if they think this event is too much like their Olympics, leading to some amusing talk of copyrights and the like. This leads Demetrius to another flash forward to the future where he meets up with the old man at the public bath and gets an understanding of not just that but all the advertisements spread around it, giving him the obvious idea to take back in order to help the mayor.
In Summary:
It’s again amusing to watch as Demetrius lands into the right place at the right time for inspiration and coming up with sponsors for the Tortonian Olympics is pretty spot on. I love how they figure out how it looks and the way they dig into the whole body paint sponsoring and all as well. It’s cute and silly and just watching the mayor’s delight works really well.
