What They Say:
A new series from the creator of Rosario+Vampire with artwork that’s beyond this dimension! Chloe dreams of being an actress, but her path to success may be closed as she’s now twenty-eight with very little to show for it. However, she does happen to have a special occult body type!
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
This manga has no bounds for romance. Any romance path is possible in this series. One of Kai’s old friends, Nyarlathotep, is calming down the chaos. She measures Chloe’s abilities and her body. Chloe is being sucked into her charm and a new romance path has opened. She is like a siren luring her pray in and about to kiss Chloe. Noel takes offense to Nyarlathotep’s actions and shows a bit of embarrassment. Is this manga switching from a love triangle to a square so early in the series?
Kai reminds Chloe and Noel why they are at Arkham Agency. They want to get Chloe registered as Ghost Reaper. Chloe’s reputation precedes her and has attracted attention from the wrong people. Nyarlathotep accepts that Chloe is worthy of being registered as a Ghost Reaper but doesn’t accept Kai and Noel’s abilities. She is quickly able to defeat them as she throws Kai to the wall like he is a paper ball into the trash. She stabs Noel with her hair and puts his life in danger.
Chloe merges with Noel to save him from his faith. She gets a brand new costume that matches a servant theme with a cat motif. The costume designs in this series have been great so far. They have a variety to them and they stand out from each other. They take the identity from the ghost and it blends in so well with Chloe. Chloe’s abilities as a spirit medium just make Nyarlathotep want her even more. Chloe beats Nyarlathotep and the rest of the Arkham Agency. The thing is that Nyarlathotep wasn’t fighting at full strength and was only measuring Chloe’s strengths. She’s attracted to Chloe’s cat transformation and just wants to rub her ears.
In Summary:
The costumes in this series have a majestic elegance to their nature. One aspect that grabbed my attention is how Noel appears to Chloe. In her transformation with Noel, Noel appears to Chloe as a cat sticking out of her rear end. Such a weird but fascinating design choice. I would have wanted to see more of Nyarlathotep in her first appearance. She has a leadership role and has incredible strength but it more said than shown. She inspires fear into Kai’s heart but there is no reason to believe this. It would have been interesting to see more of her history with Noel.
