30 Day Book Challenge Day 8: A Series Everyone Should Read

2 min read

While The Martian in both book and feature film form get a lot of attention, I continue to pin for a Mars trilogy adaptation. The three-novel series from Kim Stanley Robinson landed in the 90s and was a fascinating generational look at humanity as it terraformed another world and grew and changed because of it. The forward movement of it is something that may not appeal to some but will be a selling point to others, opening with the initial colonization in the first novel before moving forward thirty years in the next and seeing what happened to those characters. It then shifts further for the final volume that deals with the long term effects in so many ways to what’s really become a new species of humanity across a century of material.

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite series that because of various reasons that you just can’t bring yourself to recommend to anyone?

For me, it’s Mission Earth. I had read all ten books as they came out and it’s just a ride through insanity but it was so over the top and had such great callbacks and twists that it was a rollercoaster ride I never wanted to depart from.
