The summer 2020 anime series Deca-Dence is underway and the official site is starting to dig into some of what it can do for promotion for it. The series got underway on July 8th, 2020 in Japan and with Funimation simulcasting and now the Japanese site has revealed a promo for the tenth episode due out on September 9th, 2020, giving us our first look at what’s to come.

This one gets some attention as it comes from the director behind Mob Psycho 100, Yuzuru Tachikawa, as he works with animation studio NUT. It was previously revealed that Hiroshi Seko is working on the scripts after adapting Mob Psycho 100 while pomdrosa is handling the character design concept that Shinichi Kurita will adapt.

The Japanese cast includes Tomori Kusunoki as Natsume, Katsuyuki Konishi as Kaburagi, Eiji Takeuchi as Fennel, Mei Shibata as Fei, Yoshino Aoyama as Linmei, Eri Kitamura as Kurenai, and Kohsuke Toriumi as Minato.

The opening theme song “Theater of Life” is performed by Konomi Suzuki while Kashitarō Itō is performing the ending theme song “Kioku no Hakobune.”

Plot Concept: Many years have passed since humanity was driven to the brink of extinction by the sudden emergence of the unknown life forms Gadoll. Those humans that survived now dwell in a 3000 meter-high mobile fortress Deca-dence built to protect themselves from the Gadoll threat.
Denizens of Deca-dence fall into two categories: Gears, warriors who fight the Gadoll daily, and Tankers, those without the skills to fight. One day, Natsume, a Tanker girl who dreams of becoming a Gear meets surly Kaburagi, an armor repairman of Deca-dence.

This chance meeting between the seemingly two opposites, the girl with a positive attitude who never gives up on her dreams and the realist who has given up on his, will eventually shake the future course of this world.
