The CW Debuts ‘Swamp Thing’ Broadcast Trailer

Very much worth watching this series!

The cancelation of Swamp Thing still has me pissed.

That said, I’m beyond thrilled that it’s going to get some wider exposure. With a lot of programming for the fall season at risk or simply not happening – FOX doesn’t have any new scripted live-action material set for the fall – networks are looking to figure out how to fill that gap. The CW has a good chunk of space to fill since most of their series are filmed in Canada and are only in the last week or two getting underway again so they’ve pulling in some other projects, which includes Swamp Thing. The series is set for an October 6th, 2020 premiere and they’ve now dropped their first trailer for it which reminds me again just how excellent this series was.

The project has Mark Verheiden writing it with Gary Dauberman and both will serve as executive producers as well.

The cast includes Crystal Reed as Abigal Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp thing, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Leonardo Nam as Harland Edwards, Ian Ziergin as Blue Devil, and Adrienne Barbeau.

The production for this comes from the Atomic Monster folks, which is James Wan’s company, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Plot Concept: Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all!
