Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the August 2020 installment, Lazy Days Moratorium is a twenty-two-page story from creator Okinaga Umanosuke, who has a dozen other works on the service. I’d gotten on a bit of a roll with some of their other titles recently after being wowed by their artwork and after going through a lot of it – being picky with the material – a new chapter has arrived to delve into. I’ve definitely enjoyed their work overall so I went into this (checking tags) with a pretty open mind to get into some of their style and design and wasn’t disappointed. There’s a particular flair to their character design work that really just a sweet spot for me overall. Especially when you get that rare “freckles” tag.
The story revolves around a cute young couple that are living together and definitely know each other well. There’s a great playfulness between them, though we don’t get his name at all. He and Tamaki definitely knows what the other likes and have that sense of enjoyment about each other that they can kind of get away with things with each other. Case in point in that the chapter opens with her on top but the doorbell is ringing as a package needs to be signed for. He’s not intending to stop because he’s mid-great time and she bonks him on the head and hustles off to answer the door. It’s cute and silly and the way he returns to his favored activity with her before she can yell at him to get the door is highly amusing. It’s a great little visual.
Of course, because she had to get up and answer the door in an oversized shirt without any underwear on, she’s miffed at him and intending to just play her mobile game. But he’s still in the zone and finds a way to nudge her back into the action, which she knew was going to be part of the fun between them because of how well they know the rhythms of each other. He’s a lot of fun as he gets her back onto the playing field, so to speak, and she’s fully into it from the start because she wasn’t going to leave him high and dry. The book focuses on them really working each other well and making it clear that they’re very in tune with each other, delivering the best of feelings and pleasure and a nice little epilogue piece that highlights their home life just right.
In Summary
This story is one that’s pretty simple and largely vanilla oriented when you get down to it but it’s just a delight to see such a happy couple engaging in carnal joy. There are some amusing comedy and lines throughout that shows just how well they handle each other in that way as well and you get a good sense that they’re both on the same wavelength completely. It’s nicely illustrated with a great design for Tamaki and an enthusiasm that both of them has which propels it forward. It’s almost one that you want to speed read through and then read again to savor.
