Discotek Media has picked up a series that was lost to the ages it felt like with the 2015 series ISUCA. The distributor has picked up the ten-episode TV series as well as the OVA with plans for an October 27th, 2020 release. Priced at $39.95, it’ll feature the original Japanese language with English subtitles only. No extras are solicited at the time but you can see the cover artwork for it below.
The series comes from the manga by Osamu Takahashi which started in 2009 in Young Ace and wrapped up in 2017 with nine volumes total. The staffing for the show has it being produced by ARMS with Akira Iwanaga directing it based on scripts by Masashi Suzuki. The theme song for the series is performed by Afilia Saga.
The series cast includes Ayumi Fujimura as Isuca, Saeko Zogo as Nadeshiko, Akane Kohinata as Matsuri, Yumeha Koda as Fumizuki, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Kanae, Ibuki Kido as Sakuya Shimazu, Keisuke Koumoto as Shinichiro Asano, M.A.O as Suseri Shimazu and Kaori Sadohara as Tamako.
Plot concept: When boy meets girl, usually there are less demons involved!
Shinichiro Asano’s parents have left the country, so a guy’s gotta work to make ends meet. One night when he’s walking home after his shift, a woman exposes herself to him in the street, popping not only out of her clothes–but out of her skin, too! Fortunately he’s saved from becoming a demon snack by a mysterious, bow-wielding girl. But that’s not the end to the strange coincidences.
At school the next day, he finds a seriously injured girl, and the terrible creature responsible. Before he knows it, Shinichiro is in the fight of his life alongside the girl who saved him. And not only is Sakuya a demon-slaying exorcist, she’s his classmate too! Shinichiro’s biggest concern may have been making rent before, but now he’s entered a whole new world, and he’s got secrets of his own that even he doesn’t know about.
