The manga became an anime and now it's leaping to live-action!

With an anime adaptation of the Grand Blue Dreaming manga appearing in the summer 2018 season, a live-action film was announced last year.  Tsutomu Hanabusa is directing it with Warner Bros. Japan distributing it and with the film coming up for release this week in Japan after being delayed from its May 29th, 2020 original debut, a new clip has landed. This one works on the hand signals that the divers use being quizzed.

The cast includes Ryō Ryūsei as Iori Kitahara, a freshman college student who is aiming for his ideal college life, and Atsuhiro Inukai as Kōhei Imamura, a fellow freshman who meets Iori through a bizarre circumstance.

Shinji Takamatsu directed the anime and working on the scripts with Hideoki Kusama as the character designer. Zero-G is handling the animation production for it. The anime cast included Yuuma Uchida as Iori Kitahara, Ryouhei Kimura as Kouhei Imamura, Hiroki Yasumoto as Shinji Tokita, Katsuyuki Konishi as Ryuujirou Kotobuki, Chika Anzai as Chisa Kotegawa, Maaya Uchida as Nanaka Kotegawa, Toa Yukinari as Azusa Hamaoka, and Kana Asumi as Aina Yoshiwara.

The manga comes from Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka that began in 2014 and has fourteen volumes out as of this week in Japan. Kodansha Comics is bringing out the series in English.
