‘Walking Dead: World Beyond’ Spinoff Pushed Back

Delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world.

While the ratings may not be what they once were, The Walking Dead still brings in a lot of viewers for AMC and I’ll continue to strongly defend the last two seasons of Fear the Walking Dead as some great TV and a welcome change from how the mothership series operates. The third series, which we learned last fall is called World Beyond, was set for an April 12th, 2020 debut before the pandemic had AMC delaying the debut of this series to an undetermined date for later this year.

Now, with the Comic-Con@Home event underway, it was revealed that the series will premiere on October 4th, 2020 to kick off its two-season limited run. A new trailer was released for it as well that you can see below that has some new footage to it.

The new spinoff has Matt Negrete running it after being a writer/producer on the mothership series for the past five years. It’s set for a ten-episode run with Scott M. Gimple listed as co-creator.

The cast includes Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, and Hal Cumpston along with Nico Tortorella.

Plot Concept: The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek.
