With some ups and downs on the streaming side recently for this property, fans of InuYasha talked last spring about bringing out the show on Blu-ray last fall, though that didn’t. The series was released previously as single DVD releases that were an average of three episodes per disc, so this’ll be a deal no matter what.
Recently, Viz Media began scheduling the series with the first set out last week with a July 14th, 2020 debut. To arise a bit more awareness about it, a two-minute promo was put together for it that highlights that it’s the first time on Blu-ray and playing the relive the experience angle for fans or something new and classic to check out for those that haven’t seen it.
The first set has the first 27 episodes of the series and include the clean opening and closing along with an interview with the Japanese scriptwriter. The set will be priced at $39.99 and will be spread across four discs in 1080p in its original full-frame aspect ratio.
Plot concept: Fifteen-year-old schoolgirl Kagome Higurashi, whose family tends a shrine, falls into an old well one day and literally tumbles into ancient Japanese history. On the other side she meets Inu yasha, the dog-like demon (inu means dog in Japanese) who claims she smells just like the woman who fifty years ago pinned him with her arrow to a tree, where he’s been all this time.
Unwilling allies at first, the two become closer as their search for the sacred “Jewel of Four Souls” continues. If Kagome really is the reincarnation of the shrine-maiden Kikyo, can it be that she’s becoming jealous of herself…?
