Sony Reschedules Live-Action ‘Monster Hunter’ Film

2 min read
Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity.

With a live-action film for Monster Hunter kicking around since 2012, things got awhile ago when Sony Pictures set the date for the film through Screen Gems where it’s set for a September 4th, 2010 premiere. With a couple of images surfacing here and there and the posters that you can see below being released back in February, we’ve mostly been waiting to see when this one will formally change its date. With A Quiet Place 2 having shifted to the same release date, Sony has now moved this film to April 23rd, 2021 – largely, one suspects, with the knowledge that theaters aren’t likely to be open in a lot of the US come September either.

The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson who also wrote the screenplay for it based on the game by Capcom and is distributed by Screen Gems in the US.

The cast includes Milla Jovovich as Captain Natalie Artemis, Tony Jaa as The Hunter, Clifford “T.I.” Harris, Jr. as Link, Ron Perlman as Admiral, Diego Boneta, and Meagan Good.

Plot Concept: Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.
