“Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!”
What They Say:
University student Shinichi Sakurai is comfortable being an introverted loner and doesn’t care what others think. Buxom underclassmen Hana Uzaki doesn’t understand this one bit. A tornado of joy, she’s taken it upon herself to make him more social. Starting to enjoy her company, he’d concede that they’re friends. Can it be possible to have as much fun with another person as he would by himself?

Hana Uzaki is a college freshman. She’s happy to find out that her senpai in high school, Shinichi Sakurai, is attending her university! He was such a hard worker on the swim team back in high school. Is he also on the swim team in college? Nah, they don’t have one. But there’s plenty of stuff to do in college…or so he says. Uzaki observes him for an entire year. You read that right. She keeps her distance for an entire year and realizes that Shinichi is just lazing through college. What is he, some kind of loner? Why yes, yes he is. Uzaki is determined to end his loner college lifestyle!
Shinichi is not a fan of the zany Uzaki trying to ruin his quiet life. One afternoon, Uzaki bumps into him. And by bump I mean she literally rams into his gut. She insists that she join him for lunch. Food tastes better when you’re with someone! Nah, he’s not down with that. He’s going to enjoy his alone time. Naturally, Uzaki isn’t going to let that happen. Her smug face says it all. She follows him around much to his dismay. At one point, Shinichi stops in the middle of the crowd and tells Uzaki that she’s annoying him. She retorts by saying that they used to hang out together! Isn’t it convenient that he only hangs out with her when he feels like it!? Shinichi has no idea what she’s talking about! The crowd around him start getting the wrong idea though. In fact, they think he’s scum. Poor Shinichi. He caves in and lets her come with him. Another Uzaki smug face follows. I love her smug faces, haha.
Alright, they’re at the mall now. What was Shinichi planning to do? Nothing too special, just watch a movie. Uzaki starts laughing at him. Who the heck watches solo movies? That’s a super loner move! Hey…I watch movies alone, too. Well, that was before COVID-19. Still, that line wounds me. Can’t people just enjoy a movie by themselves in peace!? If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to cry in the corner for a minute. Okay, I’m back. Sorry about that. Anyway, Shinichi really wants to smack Uzaki right about now. Why is she always dissing him!? As punishment, Shunichi pulls her nose. That’s got to hurt! Oh hey, a cat! Wait, what kind of abomination is that!? That’s one weird cat. Why is it always following them around!? Go away, weird cat! Apologies for getting off track. In the end, Shinichi invites Uzaki to watch a movie with him. He’s got enough points to get two tickets. Might as well, right?
After buying the tickets, Uzaki makes fun of Shinichi for having enough points to buy two tickets. That’s a lot of movies he’s watched alone. He must be a pro loner! How adorably annoying she is. She gets another nose pinch! After the movie, they head over to the electronics store. Uzaki decides to relax on a massage chair and invites Shinichi over. In a hilarious scene, Uzaki starts having a little bit too much. The massage chair just feels too good. It’s causing her to make weird noises as her bountiful bosom bounces intensely. Lewd! Shinichi can’t stand to watch any longer! He forces them to go. Aww, but she was having so much fun! Shinichi remarks that she should do that at home! Uzaki proceeds to find another fun thing to try. Bouncing intensifies! Shinichi simply covers his eyes. haha.
Hey, a VR experience booth! That sounds like fun. Uzaki tries it out first and has fun playing a shooting game. She does whack Shinichi in the face though. Oww. Shinichi pinches her cheek in retaliation. The lady that works there thinks they’re a cute couple. But they’re not together! Anywho, Shinichi gives VR a try next. He gets to play an underwater exploration game. Suddenly, a shark starts attacking him! Shinichi starts losing it. Uzaki thinks this is hilarious and plans to record his disgracefulness. Jokes on her though! Shinichi reaches out and grabs something big and soft! Is it an octopus? A jellyfish? Nope. I think we all know what he grabbed. Something…sugoi dekai. WHY IS THAT WEIRD CAT STILL HERE!?
They hit the batting cages next. Dang, it’s been a busy day! Shinichi sucks at batting though. Uzaki bets that if she can hit a homerun, dinner is on him. Sadly, she pulls her back while swinging. She probably should have stretched first! It’s okay though. Uzaki manages to guilt-trip Shinichi into buying her dinner anyway. What a deviously clever girl! At dinner, Shinichi lectures her about getting her injury checked out. He doesn’t want her back to get worse. What a nice guy. It’s a shame that Uzaki ate all his food during this conversation, haha. The cook thinks they make a cute couple. Gosh, why does everyone think they’re going out!? The next day, they walk together to college. Yesterday sure was fun! Shinichi should try not to be a loner. It’s clear that Uzaki won’t be leaving him alone for the foreseeable future. Well, at least his days won’t be boring! The episode ends with Uzaki telling him that her back still hurts after the thing they did yesterday. Of course, everyone around them is getting the wrong idea. Shinichi wishes that she would phrase things better!
This was very entertaining to watch. Uzaki is a ball of energy, isn’t she? Shinichi is going to have to get used to that. I envy him yet also feel bad for him at the same time. As I mentioned before, Uzaki is adorably annoying. She can be cute, but she can also get on your nerves. But hey, it makes for good comedy! On a side note, does anyone else find it amusing that Uzaki’s shirt says “Sugoi Dekai?” Translated into English, it means super huge. That makes sense. Uzaki has quite a large heart! That must be what it’s referencing. Definitely nothing else. Also, her smug faces are the best. What’s up with that cat though? It creeps me out. I feel like it’s staring into my soul. All in all, a fun first episode. Will Shinichi warm up to Uzaki? Will they become friends? Will they get together!? I look forward to finding out!
