‘Japan Sinks’ Reveals New Anime Clip

We learned last fall that a new Netflix anime series is in production with a ten-episode project based on the novel Japan Sinks, aka Nihon Chinbotsu. It’s set for a worldwide July 9th, 2020 debut and now Netflix has dropped a new promo for the project that reveals a new clip from it that clocks in at just under a minute.

It has Masaaki Yuasa directing it and animation production handled by Science SARU. The scripts are coming from Toshio Yoshitaka with Pyeon-Gang Ho listed as the series director. Naoya Wada is on board with the character designs.

The Japanese cast includes Reina Ueda as Ayumu Muto, Tomo Muranaka as Gō Muto, Yuko Sasaki as Mari Muto, Masaki Terasoma as Kōichirō Muto, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Haruki Koga, Nanako Mori as Nami Miura, Kensho Ono as Kaito, and Umeji Sasaki as Kunio Ashida.

The series features the opening theme song of “a life” by Taeko Onuki.

Based on the 1973 novel which had two live-action films produced and a fifteen-volume manga series over the years.

Plot Concept: A swarm of earthquakes hit the Japanese archipelago causing the sudden eruption of a dormant volcano. Soon after the people find themselves facing a wave of mysterious natural disasters… and ultimately discover an unbelievable consequence.
