The Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ franchise revealed back in May 2017 that they would be bringing a feature film that would be called Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Love Kingdom. The film landed with a June 14th, 2019 in Japan and the film saw a December 25th, 2019 home video release as well. Sentai Filmworks was able to get this out pretty quickly as it’s available today from them! To help raise awareness of it, they’ve released their first trailer for it so you can get back into the groove of the film.
The release comes in its original Japanese language with English subtitles but also has the encore material, a karaoke version, the dancers choreography, band comments, the opening announcements, and various spots and promos.
The film has Takeshi Furuta as the chief director working with Tomoka Nagaoka with A-1 Picture animating it. Maki Fujioka is back to handle the character designs as well and serve as the chief animation director. The Japanese cast from the TV side is returning as well.
Sentai Filmworks has licensed all of the TV seasons to date with the first three released and the fourth on the way.
Original Plot Concept: Haruka Nanami, an aspiring composer from the countryside, longs to write music for her beloved idol, Hayato Ichinose. Determined to accomplish this goal, she enrolls into Saotome Academy, a highly regarded vocational school for the performing arts.
Upon her arrival, Haruka soon learns that everyone on staff, including the headmaster, is either an idol, a composer, or a poet. To top it all off, she is surrounded by incredibly talented future idols and composers, and the competition among the students is fierce; with the possibility of recruitment by the Shining Agency upon graduation, the stakes are incredibly high. As she strives to reach her dream at the academy, one fateful night, a series of events lead Haruka to a mysterious man standing in the moonlight, and he seems a bit familiar…
